smíchov city - About project
The project of the complex revitalization of the Smíchov neighborhood in the total area of approximately 210,000 m2 is centered about the building of the new modern office, commercial and residential center of Smíchov. In the mid term horizon, the warehouses and railways will be replaced by a brand new multi-functional neighborhood with newly designed areas of verdure and pedestrian zones, reconnecting currently torn bonds between the surrounding green hills and the Vltava valley. Part of the area is reserved for the new traffic node between the railway station and the new bus station, P+R parking, underground station and tram stop. Full city infrastructure will be built in the area, such as a new school. The heart of the zone will be the modern commercial center located at the intersection of all pedestrians and transport lines in the area.
The town-planning structure of the project is based on the current built-up area, height level and street grid of the current neighborhood. Along the new green pedestrian boulevard leading from north to south, a new grid of residential streets will be built, with alleys of trees, sit-down areas, pleasant housing and job opportunities. Smíchov City will therefore become original city center respecting its neighborhood while creating unique new environment for the urban life in the 21st century.
